The Schematix XLCC Buck converter kitset offers a solid performing, easy-to-assemble buck converter at an affordable price. It offers constant current & constant voltage features to suit a broad range of applications. The design has been refined over several versions to minimize voltage ripple while keeping the component count & cost to a minimum. Adjusting the voltage & current is done by 2 trimmers mounted on the PCB. Dual blue & red LED’s inform the user whether the buck converter is in Constant Voltage Or constant Current mode. Dual heatsinks help keep the Buck IC & Dual Schottky diode cool.

*Actual values may differ slightly due to manufacturing tolerances & setup. If the power source being used has considerable ripple, the output from the buck converter will also have higher ripple. 


Thermal Performance:

Tests conducted at 22C (72F) ambient temperature without any airflow over the heatsinks. The test was conducted over an extended period until temperatures were stable.


  • Maximum temperature with 4Amp load: 70C (158F)
  • Maximum temperature with 8Amp load: 116C (241F)


Notes: If mounting the buck converter in an enclosure, consider adding appropriate ventilation and possibly a fan to keep the temperature at reasonable levels.
